Abstract

Recently the demand to increase productivity and quality, the shortage of skilled labour and strict health and safety requirements finally led to the development of the robotic welding process to deal with many of the present problems of the welded fabrication. To make effective use of the robotic GMA(Gas Metal Arc) welding process, algorithm for sensing and controlling should be developed to give a high degree of confidence in predicting the bead dimensions and shape to accomplish the desired mechanical properties of the weldment. In addition, the arc travel in all directions must be accomplished within the range of the equipment and adjustments to the welding parameters. In this study, an infrared thermometer was employed to detect temperature distributions in the vicinity of the weld zone and to determine the optimal distance.........

Hazardous Waste Safe Land Disposal – Tannery Waste

Abstract

In this investigation, treatment of sludge obtained from tannery industries, which contain potentially heavy toxic metals, organics, was characterized and the performance of the solidification/ stabilization (S/S) of the sludge was discussed. The heavy metal characteristics of the sludge were determined by means of AoAc 990.08.2005 test, as defined in both USEPA regulations. S/S studies were conducted using fly ash to solidify the sludge containing high concentrations of total moisture content, volatile solids, Mn, Cd, Pb, Zn, Fe, Ni, Cu, Cl, Total Cr, Cr3 and Cr6. The raw sludge stabilized by using lime. To identify the optimum stabilization limit. The waste/blinder ratios of 36 sludge specimens were cured at room temperature for 3,7,14 and 28 days. The compressive strength of the specimen was measured to determine the feasibility of using solidified sludge as safe land fill. The heavy metal and organic contents of the extracts, of each specimen were determined in concentrations which were lower than the standard concentration in USEPA 1311 and 200.8 leaching procedure for the most part.

Abstract

Steering system is used to steer the front wheels corresponding to the inputs provided by the driver in order to achieve overall directional control of the vehicle. Thus, in vehicle handling characteristics steering system plays very important role. Pitman arm transmits the steering movement to the wheel. The Pitman arm is a linkage attached to the steering box, sector shaft, that converts the angular motion of the sector shaft into the linear motion needed to steer the wheels. The Pitman arm is supported by the sector shaft on one side and on the other side to the drag link or center link with a ball joint...........

Abstract

The paper aims at designing advanced smart parking system using IOT technology. The devices can be switched ON/OFF using a mobile through server (Wi-Fi). Generally people are facing problems on parking vehicles in parking slots in a city. So i design a Smart Parking System which enables the user to find the nearest parking area and gives availability of parking slots in that respective parking area.

Abstract

This study is an attempt to assess the impact of climate change on water resources of Lege Dadi River basin which is situated in Oromia Regional State and located about 24km east of Addis Ababa. Lege Dadi catchment is one of the largest of the three main water supply sources of Addis Ababa city having area of 206km2 and located between latitude of 9°04'59‟N- 10o01'48‟‟N and longitude 38°54'58‟‟E-50o8'0‟‟ E and elevations range from 2398 to 3248 m.a.s.l. The main objective of the study is to select appropriate model for assessing the impact of climate changes on Lege Dadi water resources catchments. In this study data such as climatic, hydrologic data, land use/cover and soil data available are used to assess climate change impacts on water resources catchments........

Abstract

Muthurajawela wetland is a coastal wetland system of high biodiversity and ecological significance. At present, this Muthurajawela wetland is being rapidly degraded by inadequately planned development activities and other detrimental activities related to growing human population pressure. As over a time, there will be change in vegetation area. Therefore, an effective method should be used to re-evaluate the change in area. This paper clarifies the proposed engineering for a smart city utilizing LoRa Technology. The system is planned and actualized with two applications by utilizing LoRa modules and LoRa gateway. Abstract

In the recent past, due to advancement in the image acquisition and storage, number of images captured has increased tremendously. Same scene is captured multiple times, which results in the set of similar images which vary with respect to their geometric or photometric transformation. Image fusion deals with the construction of a single image by integrating the content from set of images belonging to a scene. As the same picture is captured at different focal lengths, the appearance of an object in the image changes. The aim is to select the best portions, to get final informative or revised image. In image fusion process, all the images should be spatially aligned using image registration. We have used feature based registration where in SURF features are extracted from each image and homography found from good matches.........

Abstract

The rapid growing of power consumption has critically become essential to current data centres. Presented works on reducing the power consumption of network fundamentals formulate the power optimization problem for a general network topology and require a centralized controller. There is a problem that occurs in existing HEROS is that, it is not performing well with non-uniform task size and task generation patterns, and simulations of more complex, virtualized, multi-tenant environments. HEROS could be improved by extension of the set of optimized objectives, integration of other data sources, and distribution of HEROS using a multi-agent framework to enable cooperation and exchange of information by schedulers in a single data centre, or even between multiple cloud computing systems. HEROS could also help in solving other, related problems, e.g. energy-efficient workflow scheduling..........

Abstract

The road traffic deaths and injuries are predicted to be the third largest contributor to the global burden of preventable death by 2020. Incidentally, India holds the dubious distinction of registering the highest number of road accidents in the world. According to the experts at the National Transportation Planning and Research Centre (NTPRC), the number of road accidents in India is three times higher than that prevailing in developed countries. The number of accidents for 1000 vehicles in India is as high as 35 while the figure ranges from 4 to 10 in developed countries. A brief analysis of the NCRB report points out that Andhra Pradesh is having the highest share of deaths due to road accidents (12%) followed by Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh (11% each)..........

Abstract

Indexing in search engines is an effective area in present scenario. With the dynamic nature of the World Wide Web, search engine have a difficulty in getting the relevant data to provide result to user query in shorter time. This paper proposes the technique for URL sorting and indexing. The proposed system explain that there are millions of websites, so from where get the list of websites, rank of websites, from where get the rank and also how many rank will included in search. It uses a Quick sort and B+ search. Sorting of documents will be done by quick sort by giving rank to the documents and for faster accessing of the keyword along with the indexing will be done by B+ search. The relevant word that comes from online dictionary improves the search result.

Abstract

Technology is changing at a very high rate. To make the car safer and pleasurable to drive, many innovating features have been introduced by the car manufacturers. These technologies help the driver to get data about the traffic, accidents, and navigation to reach faster and safer. This study attempts to identify the infotainment trends in Indian market. Further, it examine the attitude of consumers on the basis of age of the consumers. Data is collected with the help of a questionnaire and SPSS20 is used to analyse the data. Consumers have a positive attitude towards the infotainment features in their cars. Touch screen control was found to be most important followed by navigation and connectivity.

Abstract

The present paper deals with the existence and linear stability of equilibrium points in the magnetic binary problem when the primaries are moving in the elliptical orbit including the effect of the gravitational force of the bigger primary. We have observed that there exists three collinear and two non-collinear equilibrium points we have also observed that all the collinear and non-collinear equilibrium points are unstable.

Numerical Investigation of pulsating Flow in 2-Dimensional Channel to Enhance the Heat Transfer Rate

Abstract

In this research, the numerical analysis of pulsating flow in 2D channel has been carried out with appropriate boundary and initial condition to maximize the heat transfer rate. The wall temperature is kept constant to observe the behavior of air fluid flow in a channel. The time average Nusselt number (Nuavg) is used to study the effect of heat transfer on fluid flow. The user define function (UDF) file has been introduced to define the pulsating inlet velocity fluctuation. The governing parameters like Strouhal number (St) and Amplitude ratio (A/D) which ranges 2 ≤ St ≤ 20 & 0.1 ≤ A/D ≤ 1 are used to measure the effect on heat transfer. Simulations has been carried out on channel considering variable length with grid sizes 50×5000,50×7500,50×10000 and 50×125000. From the analysis, it is found that as the Strouhal number (St) and Amplitude ratio (A/D) increases the time average Nusselt number (Nuavg) also increases.........

Ionization Effect of Soliton Propagation in Non-uniform Dusty Plasmas

Abstract

Propagation of solitons in spatially non-uniform (inhomogeneous) dusty plasma in presence of weak ionization is studied. For this study, fluid model of the plasma is considered. The related fluid equations are treated by reductive perturbation analysis with a suitable space–time stretched coordinate. The propagation characteristics are described by modified Korteweg–de–Vries (mKdV) equation. The soliton solutions are found to be affected by weak ionization and plasma inhomogeneity. The effective conditions like peak amplitude and width for soliton propagation in this inhomogeneous dusty plasma model are analyzed.

CFD modelling of silica sand slurry flow through straight pipelines and bends using FLUENT

Abstract

The flow of mono-dispersed particles of silica sand through horizontal pipe bend is simulated by implementing Eulerian two-phase model in FLUENT software. CFD modelling results using FLUENT software in ANSYS 15 are compared with the experimental data collected in 53.0 mm diameter horizontal bend with radius of 148.4 mm for concentration profiles. Experiments are performed on narrow sized silica sand with mean diameter of 450 μm and for flow velocity up to 3.56 m/s (namely 1.78, 2.67 and 3.56 m/s) and with efflux concentrations 3.94% & 8.82% by volume for each velocity. Concentration samples are collected from mid-vertical plane at different cross-sections in the downstream side of slurry pipe bend. It is found that concentration distributions of solids get almost uniform shortly after the bend..........
